Your chance to become a youth leader
Applications for Toowoomba Regional Council’s Youth Connects 2025 Youth Leaders Program are open, with 25 positions available for the 2025 year.
Youth Connect is accepting applications from 1 June to 31 July 2024.
The Youth Leaders Program is a volunteer program for young people aged 14 to 24.
This program allows young people from across the
region to learn about local communities and groups, local events, activities, and services which are available for young people.
The Youth Leaders Program started in 2015 with 20 members selected to represent the region.
Each year Youth Connect looks for 25 young people across the region to represent the voice of our region’s young people.
The Youth Leaders Program aims to:
Represent the voice of the region’s young people when working with our Community Development team and other representatives of Toowoomba Regional Council.
Encourage young people to be involved in local government, community planning and decision-making processes.
Develop applicants to become youth representatives of the Toowoomba Region on community and Council-led programs.
Communicate effectively with young people about community and youth-focused events, programs, and activities in the region.
Ensure Council’s youth strategy is relevant and remains representative of young people across the region.
Connect young leaders across the region to strengthen youth networks and collaborative projects.
Youth Leaders are selected based on a range of factors,
such as an interest in helping to improve the lives of young people in their local community, an awareness of local and regional youth or community issues and a passion to make a difference.
Since the program commenced in 2015, the Regional Youth Leaders have delivered Queensland Youth Week events, partnership projects with local NGOs, support for National Headspace Day and other youth groups and much more.
