Work On Allora Hall And Pool Feature In Draft Budget
Southern Downs Regional Council has allocated expenditure for work on the Allora Community Hall and Allora Swimming Pool in its draft budget for 2023-24.
The draft has been made public to enable ratepayers to make comment.
The consultation period ends at 5pm on Thursday 22nd June.
SDRC has allocated $150,000 for the Allora Library relocation and Allora Hall structural work.
It is proposed that the funding will be from “external” sources.
An allocation of $117,417 is listed for refurbishing the changing rooms and toilet facilities at the Allora Pool.
This is also listed as being funded externally.
A major capital expenditure is $7 million for an upgrade of the Warwick Saleyards.
It is proposed that the funds for this would be drawn from $4 million externally, $1 million from Council reserves and $2 million in loan funds.
SDRC has proposed that $912,000 be provided for community grants in 2023-24.
The lion’s share of this - more than $678,000 - is for Stanthorpe and Warwick.
The only specific local amount away from the major centres is $9,000 for the Historic Leyburn Sprints.
The 2023-24 budget forecasts an average increase of 5.15 per cent in the general rate, although some landholders will see a greater increase due to significant rises in land valuations by the Valuer-General.
