Westbrook apprentice a finalist
MAKS Caravan Centre apprentice Zackary Tozer, from Westbrook, is a finalist at the 2024 TAFE Queensland – SkillsTech CSQ Apprentice Awards.
The Apprentice Awards has run since 2018 and identifies top apprentices in a range of categories, with only 14 winners on the night out of more than 12,000 eligible apprentices,
thanks to a raft of sponsors led by Construction Skills Queensland.
The Caravan Trade and Industries Association of Queensland Recreational Vehicle Apprentice of the Year will be the final category on the night and among those finalists is apprentice Zackary Tozer, who ditched university for an apprenticeship after realising what really made him happy and has recently completed his qualification.
“I was studying engineering at uni but I got two semesters into it and decided that it wasn’t what I wanted to do for the rest of my life,” Mr Tozer said.
“I had recently bought my LandCruiser and had it apart in the driveway fixing something when my dad got home from work.
“He said that the happiest he’d seen me in recent times was under that car covered in grease.”
All category finalists are eligible for the BUSY At Work General Manager’s Apprentice of the Year and CSQ Outstanding Apprentice of the Year awards.
The 2024 TAFE Queensland – SkillsTech CSQ Apprentice Awards will be held on Thursday, 10 October at the Royal International Convention Centre in Bowen Hills, Brisbane and will host a crowd of 350 attendees made up mostly of award finalists, their employers, and guests.
