Welcome to 2025

Locals welcomed in 2025 in their own ways, with some travelling to the old Jondaryan Woolshed for a Bush Dance.

Dancers celebrated the traditional way inside the historic structure.

It was tough to get tickets at the Woolshed with 320 seated spots all snapped up before New Year’s Eve arrived.

Volunteer caterers were stretched to their limits at a sold-out dinner, with food supplies almost all consumed.

Around 80 walk-ups bolstered numbers further for the main event of the night, the dancing, led by perennial favourites the Ridgee Didge Bush Band.

Over at Gowrie Little Plain Hall, an even more traditional celebration was held, with the customary Auld Lang Syne played to mark the start of a New Year.

Public celebrations were quieter in the towns, although unofficial reports suggested that some may have tried to recreate the Sydney Harbour Bridge celebrations in their own backyard.

It was not a happy night for all, with an ugly domestic dispute marring the night for those on Campbell Street a grim reminder of the spike in domestic violence on what should be special days.

The celebrations should recommence soon on Australia Day!
