Wattles Juniors off to a flying start
Wattles Junior Rugby League Club committee was thrilled with the club muster and sign-on at Platz Oval.
President Aaron Gilmore said, “We couldn’t have been happier with the roll up, and all the young players enjoyed a great afternoon taking the first step towards the new season.”
Players were able to meet coaches, have clothing fitted, address registration paperwork, enjoy a sausage sizzle, and burn off a little energy.
Mr Gilmore considered it a definite winner having canteen facilities and merchandise set up for purchase convenience.
“The afternoon was so well supported, and we had excellent numbers commit for the 2024 season,” he said.
“We will now be investigating trial match opportunities before the Warwick and District Junior Rugby League season gets underway, with a draw to be announced in the near future.
“It’s always a busy pre-season, but will prepare us well for the competition challenges ahead.”
Wattles juniors pre-season last year saw them take on the Pittsworth Junior Danes, Stanthorpe Gremlins and Toowoomba’s Southern Suburbs Tigers gearing up for the season’s fixtures.
Club training officially commenced on Thursday last week from 4.15pm to 5.30pm at the Allora State School, and continues every Thursday through the season excluding school holidays.
Parents should be aware that all players must be registered with the club to take part in training.
New players still wishing to sign-on can do so at club training.
“We are looking forward to another promising year in promoting the rugby league and educating young players in the finer skills, building friendships and enhancing leisure time enjoyment,” Mr Gilmore said.
