Wattles Junior Warriors front up for 2024
President Aaron Gilmore is still upbeat about the success of the Wattles Junior Warriors in 2023, which included three senior grade Grand Final appearances and a mighty Under 13 premiership win, the team navigating the season undefeated.
Having commenced his second year leading the club, Mr Gilmore can see now reason why the Warriors can’t be as successful both on and off the field.
The Club boasts some new administrative and coaching faces heading into the coming Warwick and District Junior Rugby League season, with Secretary Holly Death and Treasurer Melissa Betts joining Club Vice-Presidents Jodie Gilmore and Russell McMillan as Wattles Juniors executive committee.
Leanne Ridley is joined by Shadai Daley and Belinda Naumann in the demanding registrar role.
Continuing as canteen convenor is highly experienced Serena Fiechtner, while former long serving treasurer Lucy Berry fills the position as uniform coordinator.
The integral role of referee coordinator has been filled by Rebecca Steinhardt, while successful 2023 Under 13 premiership winning coach Glen McMillan is the club coaching coordinator.
Highly respected Wattles Club Life Member Shelley Duggan has been appointed Patron of the junior club, given the sad loss of former long serving Patron Dave Achilles late last year.
Wattles Juniors coaches were also appointed at their October 25th Annual Meeting last year, to mentor teams across 2024.
They are:
Under 6: Nick Van Der Poel
Under 7: Ross Williams
Under 8: Jared Gault
Under 9: Shadai Daley
Under 10: Chris Ryan
Under 11: Josh Schwenke
Under 12: Russell McMillan
Under 13: Clayton Brady and Rylan Saville
Under 15: Glen McMillan
Under 17: Matthew Christensen
Under 15 Girls League Tag: George Berry
Under 17 Girls League Tag: Bill Gorringe
Aside from the challenges of the coming Warwick and District Junior season, Wattles will have an Under 14 team travelling to Charleville in February for the annual Adrian Vowles Cup, one of Queensland’s more highly rated junior carnivals.
Another consideration is participation in the Brown Steel Walker Weekend in late March in Toowoomba, where Wattles’ Under 13 side was so impressive last year.
