Wattles Junior referees revel in awards
Wattles rugby league match officials were well among the awards at the Toowoomba Rugby League Referee’s Association Presentation Evening at Toowoomba’s Clifford Park.
Wattles Junior Rugby League Club Referee Co-ordinator Rebecca Steinhardt praised award winners who filled the vital roles of match officials in the 2024 season.
“Their dedication and commitment to their role is like no other,” she said.
“I was honoured to witness the teamwork and camaraderie as they supported each other and myself through the season.”
Club President Aaron Gilmore extended his congratulations to those recognised.
“Our club is proud of their efforts,” he said.
“Our match officials were very committed this year, performing at such a high standard of officiating, and have found it rewarding being able to give back to the game they love.”
Wattles Junior RL Club awards as presented:
Junior League Laws (6-12 years) - Ty Betts
International Laws (13 years+) - Rylan Saville (not present)
Referee encouragement award - Malakai Steinhardt
Referee Co-ordinator Bec Steinhardt was honoured to present the awards to International Laws recipients (13 years+) along with Joseph Gill from Oakey.
In recognition of her sterling efforts in her initial year as Wattles juniors Referee Coordinator, Bec Steinhardt was gifted a floral tribute.
Malakai Steinhardt, Piper Brady and in his absence Rylan Saville were also presented with gifts for their efforts refereeing the 2024 Warwick & District Junior Rugby League finals Series.
The Wattles Junior Rugby League Club may have recently closed the curtains on a successful 2024 season in the Warwick & District Junior Rugby League premiership, but the club will launch into the 2025 season, a season of significant changes for the 60-year-old League and its affiliated clubs, on Wednesday October 16th, 6.30pm at its Annual General Meeting at Wattles Clubhouse in Clifton.
All committee and coaching positions will be declared vacant and new appointments made.
