The Brayden Paix led Wattles Warriors contingent that took part in the recent annual Goondiwindi Knockout Carnival returned home as Grand Finalists, but alas not with the major silverware.

Eight teams contested the men’s Knockout with five teams challenging in the women’s competition at Goondiwindi’s Gilbert Oval complex on Saturday February 17th.

Along with Brayden, the Warriors contingent of top graders Austin Jennings, Matthew Christensen & Tyson Stevens all wore the colours of ‘Rod’s Rebels’.

The Rebels, which is a memorial team, was arranged by Wattles’ Brayden, in memory of his cousin Adam Rodilossi who passed away in a car accident on 2020

The footy season might not have kicked off yet, but the Goondiwindi Knockout is considered among the most anticipated pre-season carnivals in the region.

In what organisers rated an amazing day of country knockout footy, ‘Rod’s Rebels’ finished behind the Katrina McGrady Memorial team 16 – 6 in the Men’s Grand Final.

The ‘Rebels’ won their way through to the decider with wins over the Garry Longhurst Memorial line-up and the Baayina Wurrumay Goannas to book the ‘Rebels’ a Grand Final berth.

The women’s competition was won by the CCC Memorial team.
