'Umbercollie' earns most votes in spring art show

A painting depicting a serene bush setting in golden light has earned the People’s Choice Award at the Annual Members Spring Exhibition.

Umbercollie is the work of local artist Lyn Mathies and it is still on display for those who have not been in for a look yet. 

The annual exhibition ran until Sunday but many of the works are still on display, along with some new additions, at the gallery. 

Meanwhile, raffle winners were: 1st prize John Elmes;  2nd prize Sharon; 3rd prize Yvette Smith; 4th prize Wilma; and 5th prize, Nancy.

The Pittsworth Art Gallery and Information Centre, at 50 Short Street, is now open from 10am to 1pm Wednesdays to Sundays. 

Alongside paintings and drawings you’ll find a range of unique ceramics, cards and jewellery on display and for sale.
