Twin city: Pittsworth High has eight sets enrolled for 2023

Twin city... Bree and Lachie Crighton are school captain and vice captain respectively at Pittsworth High School this year, and it’s rather fitting they’re in leadership roles, with no less than eight sets of twins enrolled for 2023.

Bree Crighton and Lachie were both junior captains last year.

All the twins at the school this year have, of course,  worked through their primary years and into high school side by side and all agreed it was great to have a classmate from home in the same year.

The three sets of identical twins admitted to having tried a few tricks with their teachers in primary school.

Among them, Amelia and Aleisha Stevens recall swapping shoes and earrings “but the teacher knew us too well... and Amelia couldn’t stop laughing.”

Most reported “never being lonely” as an upside to being a twin while “sharing a birthday” was widely viewed as a downside.

Principal Daniel Lindenmayer said it was pretty special to have multiple sets of twins at school this year.

Pittsworth High School has more than 500 students enrolled this year as the new school year gets under way.

There are just two new teachers in a staff of about 40 this year; inclusion teachers Amanda Bradfield from Mitchell and Rebecca Davies who was previously in Cooktown.

“We are very lucky at Pittsworth, we have an excellent reputation for academic excellence and we have great teachers and heads of department,” Mr Lindenmayer said.

“Although figures would not be officially confirmed until today, Day Eight, there would be more than 500 enrolled for 2023.

“Our numbers continue to go up which is really great - there’s a lot happening in the Pittsworth community which is really positive for the school.”

Pittsworth is a feeder school for a wide area including Millmerran, Mt Tyson and Cecil Plains.
