Timely Reminder On Fire Safety
Allora Fire Brigade was called to a fire in Raff Street Allora last Wednesday night.

Fire Captain Ross Williams and members of his Training Squad extinguished the fire in a lounge chair that had been placed too close to a heater. The local Police and the Ambulance Service also attended the scene.
This has prompted Captain Williams to remind locals to BE AWARE and BE FIRE SMART.
Check that your smoke alarms are working properly
Winter means take extra care when using heaters, electric blankets or open fires.
Chimneys need to be cleaned before use.
Make sure you completely extinguish hot ashes.
Never leave cooking or any other open flame including candles or oil burners unattended.
Clean the lint filter of your clothes dryer each and every time you use it.
Don’t overload power points and switch off appliances when not in use.
Always keep lighters and matches away from children.
Never smoke in bed.
Remember that smoke from a fire will make you confused and that you cannot see in smoke.
When asleep you will not smell smoke and it will in fact put you into a deeper sleep.
Have a written escape plan in case of fire and practice it regularly.
Make sure keys to all locked doors are readily accessible in case you need to escape.
