On Australia Day this year the Darling Downs Heavy Horse Festival was awarded the Community Event of the Year.

Festival like these do not happen without the dedication of a team of volunteers who are passionate about Heavy Horses and the history of these gentle giants that built this great nation.

A record number of entries have been received this year, making the festival bigger and better than ever.

Two action packed days including competitions, demonstrations and displays by heavy horses in led breed classes, harness, saddle and novelty events as well as ploughing and old fashioned working classes.

There will be a horse breeds expo, wheelwrights, blacksmiths, leather workers and rope makers demonstrating their skills along with market stalls and food and drinks available.

Set aside weekend of 15-16 March for this amazing Festival at the Allora Showgrounds.
