The Allora & District Historical Society needs your HELP!!
The Allora & District Historical Society's volunteers have been raising funds to relocate the original Court House (150+ years old) and the one room school at Drayton St. to our main precinct at 53 Warwick St. Allora.
This project will halve lease, power, rates, maintenance of the grounds as well as volunteers to open the two properties for visitors.
With all buildings/museums on one site, visitors, especially those on coach tours with limited time, will find it easier to browse all the museums. Also, the next generation will find it much easier to run and care for.
We must achieve this goal this year or council application fees will have to be paid again. I, as secretary, have applied unsuccessfully for grants for 4 years. The amount required has risen in this time from $55,000 to $120,000, excluding the cost of disability access and power to both buildings, approximately $9000.
We, as a committee, decided to request public donations and/or sponsorships to raise this amount while still applying for more grants and fund raising.
GOLD Tier Sponsorship/donation (largest amount given) – your name or business will be placed on a plaque on the Court House.
SILVER Tier Sponsorship /donation (second largest amount given) – your name or business will be placed on a plaque on the school building.
BRONZE Tier Sponsorship/donation (amounts over $1000 given) – your name or business will be placed on an honour board within the buildings.
All other sponsorships/donations will be written in a book to be kept on site and documented in our history data.
If you have a long family history with Allora, maybe you could ask your family members and friends to make a combined donation. If you wish to have your name and donation (no matter how much, as we will appreciate any amount) advertised on our facebook page and the Allora Advertiser, please let me know by email adhssec@gmail.com
