Teddies in custody
The Westbrook Trauma Teddy Group has been expanding its horizons this year to assist Police Officers in our Region when they are dealing with children experiencing trauma.
Whether its in a road accident where the Highway Patrol Officers are in attendance or in the Child Protection Unit when Police Officers have the unenviable task of having to separate children from family in order to provide a safer environment for them.
Children often don’t understand why these actions are necessary and a knitted Trauma Teddy can provide some comfort in an otherwise very trying situation for all concerned.
State Emergency Services, Ambulance paramedics and many medical facilities are now benefiting from having Trauma Teddies available to help bring comfort to children.
Members of the Trauma Teddy group are very grateful to Toowoomba Regional Council for providing $824 of Community Support funding which has enabled them to purchase 12 months’ supply of non allergenic polyester stuffing for our Trauma Teddies.
Without this support members would have had to divert much of their time from knitting to fundraising for the Teddy filling.
