Smart standpipes now in Pittsworth
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has installed smart standpipes for potable water in Pittsworth.

As part of TRC‘s work to improve water efficiency throughout the region, residents in Pittsworth have also moved to a touch tag system.
TRC Water and Waste Committee Chair Rebecca Vonhoff said the use of smart standpipes allowed Council to monitor its systems more effectively and provided an improved service for our customers.
“Water is our most critical resource, which is why we are looking at every area of our business model and are making any changes which will improve efficiencies,” Cr Vonhoff said.
“The use of smart stand-pipes allows us to monitor our systems more effectively and provides an improved service for our customers.
“Eligible residents will now be able to gain access through the use of a touch tag.
“This will result in a small change in process for existing customers but one which will make it much easier for them to buy water and use the equipment."
In addition to Pittsworth, Council has provided smart standpipes for treated water in Millmerran, Oakey, Wyreema and Crows Nest.
