Songwriting powerhouses Allan Caswell and Matt Scullion are coming to Gowrie Little Plain Hall next week for a night of stories and songs.

Allan Caswell is easily Australia’s most recorded songwriter with almost 1,000 of his songs being released around the world by artists of the calibre of Cilla Black, Patti Page, The Irish Rovers, The Living End, Slim Dusty, Barry Humphries, Ricki May, James Blundell, McAlister Kemp, Graeme Connors, Anne Kirkpatrick, Chad Morgan, Lynne Hamilton, Beccy Cole, The  Flying Emus, Bullamakanka, The Wolfe Brothers and Ella Hooper among many more.

He is best known for writing the theme for the Australian television series Prisoner, “On The Inside”, which was a number 1 hit in Australia and New Zealand in 1979 and later reached number 3 in the UK, with the Patti Page version making the country charts in the USA.

At the 2024 Golden Guitar Awards, Caswell received the ultimate accolade in Australian Country Music, when he was elevated to the Roll of Renown in recognition of his contribution as a songwriter, artist, author, and record producer.

Meanwhile, Matt Scullion will make his second appearance at Gowrie Little Plain.

With three successful albums under his belt and 26 number one songs to his credit, the Golden Guitar winner has plenty to sing about.

Matt’s songs are a mix of old school storytelling and tongue in cheek Aussie humour. His lively, yet intimate shows tug on your green and gold heartstrings as he swaps between the acoustic guitars, banjo and ukulele instruments.

Matt’s tours regularly get a spin on ABC Radio’s “Australia All Over” program with Macca on Sundays, while his songs have been recorded by the likes of Lee Kernaghan, Travis Collins, Sara Storer, and Cold Chisel.

In January Matt was the proud recipient of the ‘People’s Choice Award’ at the ‘Tamworth Country Music Festival’ and was inducted into the ‘TSA Song Makers Wall Of Fame’.

Catch Allan Caswell and Matt Scullion Saturday April 5th 7.30pm at the Gowrie Little Plain Hall.
