Service to Local Ambulance Committee recognised
Two long-serving members of the Clifton Local Ambulance Committee (LAC) have been presented with medals and certificates in recognition of their time given to the community through support for the local Ambulance Service.
Terry Davis and Keith Muller received their awards from Assistant Commissioner for the Darling Downs South West Region, Michelle Baxter, during a visit to the Clifton Ambulance Station on Tuesday, 20 September.
The award to Mr Davis marked 35 years of LAC membership, while Mr Muller’s award recognised his 20 years’ service.
Assistant Commissioner Baxter was accompanied on her visit by several new appointees to the region, including the Director of the Darling Downs District Russell Cooke, Executive Manager of the South West District Gavin Trembath, and Manager of the Clinical Education Unit Kylie Cooke.
Also with the party was the Executive Manager of the Toowoomba Operations Centre Glen Maule, who has been a regular visitor to the Clifton Ambulance Station for some years in his previous roles with the Queensland Ambulance Service.
Responding to his award, Terry Davis spoke highly of the Ambulance Service.
“One thing that is clear is that the Clifton Ambulance Service in the last 107 years has retained the positive things about its history and culture, but has been able to move forward and improve,” he said.
“We Cliftonites have high expectations of our Ambulance Service, and I am pleased our local Ambos are able to provide such an outstanding service each and every day.
“This is a great Ambulance Service staffed by well trained and caring paramedics.
“Through all the changes over the past years, these officers and the Ambos before them have continually strived to maintain and improve the quality of their service to the Clifton area.
“I am very proud of the work they do throughout the district and I have every confidence that they will continue to provide excellent service to the community in the future.”
Mr Davis thanked his fellow LAC members, his wife, Kaye and daughter Ashleigh (also a Clifton LAC member), for their ongoing support of his endeavours.
Mr Davis was appointed to what was the Clifton Committee of the Q.A.T.B. on 1st April, 1985.
In September 1991, he conducted his first meeting as Chairman, taking over from Mr Jim Logan, and held the role until 2019.
“As a Local Ambulance Committee we have an important liaison role between the community and QAS,” Mr Davis said.
