This year, the Tinsel Trail Christmas Lights competition is making its way down from the villages of Quinalow, Maclagan, Peranga and Kulpi, down  to Oakey and Goombungee.

Entries have closed for this event, and the winners will be announced on Saturday at Santa Fair.

There are several categories, including

- Best Town

- Best Business/Public Place

- Best Nativity Scene

- Best Entrance  (Night/Day)

- Best Mailbox

- Best House in each town.

Oakey’s churches have banded together to take part in the Tinsel Trail, with different denominations being assigned different aspects of the Nativity.

Christmas lights have already gone up around the district.

Homeowners have asked the public to be respectful of the decorations and not pick them up and/or play with them.

Besides Santa Fair, Christmas events are also planned for Goombungee, Boodua and at other locations in Oakey.
