Year 10 Pittsworth State High School students took part in a RYDA road safety workshop on Tuesday.

The Rotary Youth Driving Awareness day covers several sessions which groups of student rotate through, including being able to observe a vehicle stopping on a closed road with students working with local police and driving instructors to observe the relationship between speed and stopping distance.

In another session students come face to face with a crash survivor who speaks about the event and how it changed their lives, and the students are invited to investigate crash factors.

Students also discuss key risk areas for young drivers and passengers with a local police officer.

RYDA is recognised as the leading road safety education program for youth in Australia and is supplied annually to the local high school by Rotary.
