Rockin’ at Back Plains
Back Plains State School is set to be showcased to the world through a music video featuring the school’s students with Golden Guitar winning singer/songwriter Josh Arnold.
On the second and third of September, Arnold with the help of Back Plains staff and students wrote, recorded and filmed a song that represents Back Plains as a community.
Joel Fogwell, Principal of the school, said it had been eleven years since Josh Arnold had been in Back Plains, when he recorded an audio-only song.
“He’s going to do a bit of a revamp and film it,” Mr Fogwell said.
The students were not too upset about missing out on class time, as they got to do everything from riding motorbikes and horses to sliding down slippery slides and barrel racing.
Parents also helped out with the filming by providing the use of their properties and even horses to help make the music video just that much more authentically local.
After filming wrapped up on Thursday, a community get-together was held, bringing current staff and students together with locals and past alumni.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being active participants in a music video and cannot wait to see the end result.
Josh Arnold said he was happy to be back in Back Plains after such a long time as it is a “beautiful part of the world.”
Through his production company Small Town Culture, Arnold travels all around Queensland writing and performing songs with local schools
In recent weeks, his travels have taken him to Barcaldine, Peak Crossing near Ipswich, Westmar in the Western Downs and Cecil Plains.
In the past, Arnold has worked with Clifton State High School and St Patrick’s School in Allora.
The music video will be released in four to five weeks on Arnold’s YouTube channel Small Town Culture.
