Road to Research: Two local families with so much in common

Both sets of parents have children who live with Type 1 Diabetes. Max Mason and James Turner, along with their wives, Hayley and Emma will stop at nothing to realise their dream: a cure for T1D.

When positive change is needed in the world it takes the most determined of characters and the most passionate of hearts to think big, then think bigger again and then really dig deep to make a difference.

The two local Allora Dads have set one such bold challenge for themselves - in September this year Max Mason and James Turner plan to cycle from Lourdes in France - a place synonymous with healing and faith, to Lords, London - a place of determined and passionate champions.

Their dream is a cure for T1D, and so, auspiced by JDRF (rebranding to Breakthrough T1D in April 2025), they have hatched the Road to Research Project, raising awareness and much-needed research funding.

The first local fundraising event is the Road to Research Allora Trivia Night (including the Allora Battle of the Business Brains) which will be held in The Allora Community Hall Friday, 23rd May.  Gather teams of eight, put on your thinking helmet and help support this worthy cause.

More details on the event and registration will be found in the Allora Advertiser as time draws nearer.

Then, come along for the ride as The Allora Advertiser rolls out progress updates of The Road to Research Project.
