Remembrance Day this Saturday
One hundred and five years ago, on the 11th of November, 1918, the guns fell silent on the Western Front, bringing an end to the Great War.
We still pause to remember this event in our nation’s history to honour those souls lost in World War 1.
We pay tribute to those who returned home, changed forever.
Many with physical and psychological wounds.
Most returned home and resumed life as best they could.
We now call these men the ANZACS.
This was to be the ‘War to End All Wars’.
History tells us that warfare has become commonplace in our world.
Many men and women have passed through the ranks of Australia’s Defence Forces, both here in Australia and the far flung places of the earth.
Their contribution is no less significant than those of the ‘ANZACS’.
The world at the present time is clouded in uncertainty with wars erupting in a number of countries.
As pen goes to paper and laptop to print, we currently have young men and women of our Defence Forces deployed to undisclosed locations around the globe with uncertain tasks ahead of them.
We wish them safe travel and speedy return home to Australia.
On Saturday the 11th of November we commemorate Remembrance Day.
We pause at 11am for just one minute to reflect on those who have served our country.
Pittsworth RSL Sub-Branch will be conducting a Service at its home at the Soldiers Memorial School of Arts at 83 Yandilla Street Pittsworth.
