Recognition of Distinguished Service
Eight volunteer members of the Cambooya Rural Fire Brigade received recognition of their service at a ceremony at the Cambooya Rural Fire Station on Monday evening when they were presented with a range of service awards.
QFES Acting Superintendent John Welke presented QFES Medals to Peter Cook and Ronald Fiechtner while Adam Carney received a First and Second Clasp for his QFES Medal.
First Clasps for their Diligent and Ethical Service Medals (DESM) were presented to Marilyn Greer and Garry Greer.
A First and Second Clasp for his DESM was presented to Allan Bellingham and a DESM Second Clasp was presented to Ron Spoelder.
Ronald Fiechtner and Scott Woodhouse were presented with Citations from the New South Wales Premier in recognition of their contribution to the firefighting efforts against that state’s horrific bushfires in 2019 and 2020.
A number of other Cambooya Rural Fire volunteers who were part of the contingent which went to New South Wales had been previously honoured with the Premier’s Citations.
At Monday night’s ceremony, several Auxiliary firefighters from the Anzac Avenue Fire Station in Toowoomba were in attendance, along with Acting Superintendent Welke and Chief Superintendent Jason Lawler.
QFES Assistant Commissioner David Hermann was scheduled to be at the event but had to withdraw to due illness.
