All executive positions remained the same for this year, with Wendy Gordon remaining President, Judy Byers remaining Secretary and Carol Lee remaining Treasurer.

Re-elected Vice President Jill Mobbs was the guest speaker, telling stories from her wild and varied life from her childhood in outback New South Wales, and finishing with a beautiful rendition of the Letty Katts classic “Never, Never”.

Wendy Gordon detailed the branch’s efforts with assisting the Down Under Café in Toowoomba and working with refugees in the city to help them settle in.

Ms Gordon also said that the Bernborough Fishing Club, which was wound up this year, had donated its remaining bank balance to the Oakey branch.

The QCWA financial report details that the club continues to greatly support the annual Oakey Show.

Highfields branch member Gladys McKay made the observation that the Oakey branch seemed to have extra energy.

“You are an inspiration to all of us,” she said.
