Pride of Pittsworth successfully defends welterweight title
With grit and determination, Jackson “Stoneleigh” Griffiths successfully defended his WBC Australasia welterweight title against Yangcheng Jin on Saturday night.

It was his toughest fight yet with Yangcheng proving to be a resilient opponent.
“He was very tough and durable, and I knew I hurt him a couple of times but he was strong and recovered quick,” Stoneleigh said.
His coaches Brad and Brandon Smith were pleased with his performance.
Brandon said Stoneleigh was disciplined and reserved but explosive and powerful when he needed to be, and always stepped up to every challenge, meeting it head on.
Stoneleigh’s corner was confident they had the win after dropping Yangcheng in the third round, but he rallied, and the result hung in the balance right to the end of the eight rounds.
“It was a great fight. A very good test and experience for me,” Stoneleigh said.
This win puts his outstanding professional record at 16-0.
As an athlete, Stoneleigh is known for his humility and diligence, and he continues to live up to his moniker as “the Pride of Pittsworth”.
At this stage, Stoneleigh is unsure what’s next for him but he’s not bowing out of the boxing scene any time soon.
The other main event on the night was Dylan “the Beaudesert Storm” Biggs defending his WBC Australasia middleweight title against Yeze Wu from China.
Biggs came out on top with a knockout at the one minute, 59 second mark in the third round.
The night was dedicated to Toowoomba boxer Brayd “the Great White” Smith, who died hours after a title bout in March 2015.
