Pool upgrades move ahead as tender awarded
Construction of a new kiosk and change rooms at Oakey Aquatic Centre is on track to commence in the coming weeks marking an important milestone for the project.

Construction of the new change rooms and associated works is expected to be completed by early 2022.
A tender for the construction of the new facilities was awarded to Toowoomba based business, Newlands Group.
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) Environment and Community Services Committee Chair Cr
James O’Shea said upgrades will include family change rooms and improved access and facilities for people with disabilities.
“We’re proud to be carrying out upgrade projects across the Region to bring older facilities
in line with modern building access standards for people with a disability,” he said.
“Council will work to minimise disruption for pool users, with the demolition of the existing facilities to be carried out at the end of the works, after the new building is finished and operational.
“These works will require the existing facilities to be demolished.”
The works will have minimal impact on the use of the pool during the 2021/22 summer season, which is currently underway.
The $800,000 project is funded by the Queensland Government’s Unite and Recover program in association with TRC.
