Pittsworth to host first Qld title fight
Pittsworth is a proud sporting town with a proud sporting history and this September locals will be invited to be there at the town hall to watch one of their own 'Stoneleigh' Jackson Griffiths, fight for a Queensland title.

The event will see a re-match between Griffiths and Townsville’s Aaron Stahl who fought out five action-packed rounds before Griffiths was declared the winner, in Toowoomba on June 11.
“There was only one place for the re-match - Pittsworth,” the promoter Smith said.
“Can you imagine the Town Hall packed with locals cheering on one of
their own fighting to be crowned the best in Queensland?
“It’ll be a night to remember,” he said.
Smith, who has trained four world champions including Michael Katsidis and IBO super featherweight champion Jack Asis, runs Smithy’s TGW Promotions and a series titled ‘Smithy Brings the Big Fights’ which has featured 30 previous events now.
Before the September 10 fight, in Pittsworth, welterweight Griffiths faces Muay Thai champion Quentin Smith in the ring this Friday night at Brisbane’s Greek Club.
Griffiths, a former Pittsworth State High student and a member of
the Danes Rugby League Club, is coached by Greg Rule and Brad Smith who said he was excited to see a big fight coming to Pittsworth.
As is Griffiths himself, who admits a chill down
his spine every time he hears an announcer introduced him as the “Pride of Pittsworth.
“To fight for a Queensland title in my home town is something I’ll never forget but at the same time I’ve
got a job to do so when it comes time to fight it’s all business and I can’t let emotion take over. This is a really tough fight and I need to be at my best but there is no doubt that fighting at home will give me a huge lift.”
