Pittsworth SES to restart
The Local Controller for the State Emergency Service (SES) in the Toowoomba Region, Rachael Rowe, is looking to recommence a Pittsworth SES group after it has not been running for some years.

Ms Rowe said SES is now recruiting for the Pittsworth group as its volunteers need help with responding to incidents in our community, and anyone is welcome to join.
Some of the roles that SES volunteers undertake are:
Flood boat operations (Search & Rescue, resupply and evacuations)
Storm Damage response (Temporary repairs to residences)
Chainsaw operations
First Aid and Welfare
Community Engagement/Education
Communication Skills (Radios)
SES volunteers support other agencies and services such as the Rural Fire Service, Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Police Service in roles such as:
Air Base Operations
Casualty Handling
Emergency Operations Centre
Communications
Search and Rescue
Forensic/Crime scene Searches
Ms Rowe said already having the skills to complete these tasks is not essential as all training is provided by the organisation to ensure that volunteers have the appropriate training to safely and effectively respond to incidents within the community.
If you believe you have what it takes to partake in these roles and have a strong community commitment or would like to find out more, get in touch with the local SES Group in the South West Region by contacting the Area Office on 07 4592 5230 (office hours) or emailing QSESSWRAdmin@qfes.qld.gov.au
