Pittsworth Panthers Amateur Basketball News
Pittsworth basketball stalwarts were pleased to welcome some new blood to their AGM this year.

Andrew Cattle is the new President, having previously served as a committee member for several years.
Andrew has been committed to Pittsworth basketball for many years, having coached the junior players in various age groups over the past 15 years.
His vision for the club this year is to bring it back to full strength after the disruption of 2020.
We plan to regrow our membership and get as many people playing basketball as possible in the Pittsworth community and surrounds.
Wayne Postle is our Vice President this year and has been playing basketball for many years.
It is great to see Wayne and his two daughters playing for Pittsworth.
Our new Patron is Neil West, who has a long history of playing and mentoring younger players.
Neil’s playing career was brought to a close by a knee injury but he remains a valued member of our club.
Some incumbents have continued.
Rowena Briskey, who has basketball running through her veins, remains as our dedicated Treasurer, as well as filling score sheets, refereeing, mentoring and washing all junior singlets every week.
We would be lost without her.
Rebecca Hamlet continues as Secretary and has spent the break profitably, updating the club’s COVID management and child safety plans.
The club is now registered with the new BlueCard online portal, streamlining the volunteer application process.
Our traditional teams remain: Sinisters (black); Greenbees (green); Datsuns (blue); and Roadrunners (red).
This year we are trialling a new format with under 11s and 14s playing single games in larger teams with more court time, allowing us to run skills and drills sessions with these age groups.
We hope to see a boost in player skills with this approach.
Another exciting change from previous years is that we are running a mixed seniors competition on Tuesday nights.
This came about because of reduced numbers, but we hope that the change is a positive one for players seeking something new in the game.
We have had great support this year with several new coaches stepping up to help the club.
Thank you to our junior competition coaches Alicia Burgess, Andrew Cattle, Xavier Cattle, Paul McDonald, Bob Larkham, Sharyn Cable and Jimmy Mylonas.
Thank you also to our referees and helpers, without our volunteers it would be a much poorer experience for the kids.
Finally, a thank you to our outgoing committee members.
We appreciate the work and dedication that you have shown Pittsworth basketball over your years of involvement.
Our outgoing president Charlie Uebergang has worked tirelessly in the role since 2014.
His steadfast leadership will be greatly missed.
Jimmy Mylonas is also taking a well-earned break from the committee this year.
Jimmy is an institution in the club and continues to set the bar for dedication.
Last, we would like to send a huge thanks to Belle Hohn for her help and support as Pittsworth Panthers Patron for the past 16 years, we wish her well in the future.
