Pittsworth Junior Danes wrap up their season with their Charity Round
Last weekend saw the last games of the season for the Junior Danes and it was also the club’s Charity Round supporting Epilepsy and Breast Cancer.
Under 6 The Hounds
We had the last game of the season on the weekend at home against Gatton Hawks. The Hounds played a great game. They’ve come together so well as a team, and are such great mates. Was a great fair game, which I love to see. This year has gone so fast. Thank you to all parents and grandparents for bringing the children to training and game days. The Hounds made my job easy, always listening and being great, fun children. Can’t wait to see them all at presentation day on the 12th of October. Thank you again

Under 6 The Kennels
Our last game was played after a great season. Every one of the Kennels improved so much over the year and that was seen in their efforts against Gatton. It was windy and later in the day than usual but they all showed up and as always, gave it their best in a very evenly matched game. Our older boys only got better and were great teachers for our younger boys and girls, showing their great skill set but most importantly, how to be a great sport throughout the season. I have no doubt you will all be back next year bigger and better and the younger Kennels will take on the role of helping out new boys and girls in Under 6s in 2025. Thanks everyone involved in the season, your efforts didn’t go unnoticed.

Under 7 The Hounds
What a way to end the season! The afternoon couldn’t have been any more windy but that didn’t stop the Hounds! There was no stopping the kids as they continuously ran through the play and scored nearly every time. Our tackling was a little high at times but they worked well together, supporting each other to finish off tackles. The Hounds’ defence was unstoppable, completing a lot of sets and taking a lot of kids out of play to get the ball back. Player of the week goes to Josie Radke. She was in amongst it this week, helping out her team mates to tackle and making awesome runs, even receiving a few knocks. It didn’t stop her getting up and getting back into it. Awesome job Josie! Trainer of week goes to Dylan Vietheer! Sam, Ash and myself are super proud of every one of our players. They had an exceptional year and I can’t wait to see them all come back next year!

An awesome couple of games to finish our season. The boys came out with fire in their bellies and played the best footy of the season under the lights. Gatton turned up ready to play hard and we met them step for step, even managing to get a step up and getting those few extra scoots over the try line! Our defence was a huge showcase on everything the boys have worked hard on all year, working together in tackles and solid contact, wrapping up the ball. A shout out to all our boys, Jacko, George, Maddox, Alfie, Benny, Logan, Lachie, Vinny, Tom, Angus, Coop, Ollie, Harry, Brian, Seth, Tyson and Deegan for finishing the season off strong! Player of the Match was a hard decision as all the boys came out playing their best, but it’s Benny Birch, showing up week after week, with his deep passion for the game on show, with continued impressive tackles and powering down the field with that ball! Trainer of the week goes to Cooper Veritz, for turning up to training, paying attention, ready to hook in and complete all drills. Thank you boys for a year of great footy and thank you to your families for getting you along to as much training and as many games as they could! We now prepare to take 12 of our boys to Proserpine in September for the Paul Bowman Challenge!

Our last game of the year saw us take on Gatton at home. The group’s attitude was tremendous all day with everyone keen to give it their all for our last couple games, Kaden Hollis getting them all pumped up with his beats. Archie Humphrey and Finley Thompson were on a mission in defence putting on some good hits. Brodie Trott, Lucas Lord, Jed Fiechtner and Samuel Clarke were dangerous in attack scoring many tries. Everyone played in great spirits and had a great day. Special mention goes to Texas Meloury who I thought had his best game of the year, running the ball well. I couldn’t be more proud of how our group has progressed throughout the year, I believe they have all come so far and learnt so much. I can’t wait to see how they grow over the coming years. Thank you to all the players and parents for all the help and support which made it such a great year.

Our last home games of the season saw Gatton make the trip to Pittsworth. Game 1 on the main field was a ripper with many metres made by Zane, Lock, Hamish, Mitchell and Dane allowing our speedsters to get over the line multiple times. Our defence was strong also, only conceding two tries and giving the team a convincing win. Game 2 started out with the team a bit flat and lacking intensity. They battled through the first half against a fresh Gatton team paying the penalty for not getting off their line and meeting Gatton. They turned it around in the second half, coming home with the win. Team work and digging deep got them the result. What a great season kids, you should be so proud of how far you’ve come as a team and as individuals. We hope you all sign up again next season and see what you can do together as Under 12s.

Our last game of the year and what a way to finish! We closed the season in great fashion, playing two great games against the Hawks. The kids have been working hard on controlling the ruck and running with some options around the ball, and they improved again in these areas. It’s been a great season and I’m very proud of this group. They’ve improved every week. It excites me to watch how they grow in the coming years. They are a great bunch and are great mates, which is very important. I loved watching the Under 17 kids running out for the last time as a junior in front of a great crowd. I hope all our kids go that far together as well. Thank you very much to the families for their support throughout the year. Up the Danes.
Under 13 Girls
The girls were emotion-ally invested in this game. They hit harder, ran with more purpose and played smarter. It was wonderful to see them put everything together and really enjoy themselves. I was impressed with our power running and thought Shania led the way early. However it was defensively that we really stepped up, a few girls making multiple tackles in each set. All season we have ignored the scores, knowing that if we played well it would go with us, and on Saturday it did. Bindi led the try-scorers with four, Skyhe scored two with her powerful running, and Lilah and Shania each scored one with Shania unlucky not to get more. Lilah converted all eight tries, resulting in a personal haul for her of 20 of our 48 points! Players’ Player votes were between three players, Lilah, Bindi and Skyhe, the winner only one point ahead of the person who was second! Skyhe took the most points, and deservedly so. Her tough runs left Gatton not wanting to kick off again. Without knowing the result of the Players’ Player data, I awarded Lilah player of the week for her 20 points and what I thought was her best game of the season. Trainer of the week went to Bindi for her four tries and game breaking moments. I’d like to thank the parents for their support, even when results didn’t go our way. Thank you to our wonderful game-day team of Morgan, Shenaye, Tatum, Mia and Mel for their passionate support. Most of all thanks girls for what was a fun season full of laughs and good times.
Under 15 Girls
This weekend we took on Gatton in our final match of the regular season. Unfortunately, Gatton was short on numbers, and we were left to play a nine-a-side contest with 15 minute halves. We were hopeful Gatton might work with us and join teams to give our girls some game time before the finals but unfortunately, they did not want to do so. From our group of 18 girls we split into two teams, team one playing the first half, then we ran a full fresh team on at half time. Congratulations girls on taking the win 28-4. The girls played well with 14 points coming from each half of football which indicates that we have depth and versatility across our team. We still have some room to improve on our errors, but it was a much better display of what we are capable of. This week two player of the matches have been selected instead of trainer of the week as our team was split in two. From the first half player of the match goes to Tahlia, your defensive effort was absolutely outstanding! From the second half player of the match goes to Frankie, as usual she showed great vision and really good ball movement to get us over the line! Well done girls! Next week we are in for a top of the table clash against Valleys at Valleys in our first semi-final. We are at the pointy end of the season now and I’d like to take the opportunity to thank my support team – Mel, Mark and Scurry. It’s been a roller-coaster season with our share of highs and lows but we’ve made it – thank you for your support and all
that you do for our team! Finals are here – let’s go girls. Let’s keep working hard over the next couple of weeks and see how far we can go! See you all at training on Tuesday!

There is no greater honour than being involved and watching our young boys grow into men on Saturday after a hard, long season of not winning a game. We were all riding on the backs of the 18 young men playing, wishing, hoping they could finish their Junior careers with a win. It was not to be, but we watched them all fight to the end and give it their all. A great start to the game with Jack R scoring off a Nick D kick, then a few mistakes cost us to let Gatton into the game. We scored again, this time from an AJ kick with Matthew H crossing in the corner. Every player should be proud of the effort they put into the whole game and how we as a team stuck together through it all! I wish you all every success in the future and hope you can look back on your time as a Junior Dane and smile. Thanks men for letting me be part of your journey.
Under 17 Girls
This week was a big weekend for the girls as it was our Charity Round and the last time some of the girls get to play at home as a junior player. Thanks to everyone involved with the Charity Round and arrange the charity kit - the girls looked amazing. Once again the girls started very slowly and luckily it didn’t cost any points. After the girls settled into the game and started to play footy we put some points on the board but we dropped way too much ball during the game. To the girls credit, they defended all their errors which was very pleasing to see, so well done girls. Next week we are off to the semi where we will need to step up our game but I believe these girls can really give this competition a shake, they just need to believe in themselves. Thanks to the crowd that showed up for the girls as they played their last home game. If you’re free next Saturday come and cheer on the Under 15 and Under 17 girls in the semi finals. Player of the week this week was Olra. Trainer of the week was Heidi
