Pittsworth Danes Rugby League results
It was a big day at Club Pittsworth as the Danes played the Goondiwindi Boars on Sunday, May 8.

The Danes would like to thank all businesses that donated prizes to the Mother’s Day raffle.
This Saturday night, the Danes are up against Wattles at Clifton.
A Grade
Taking on the defending premiers the Danes started well, however were forced to pay for some mistakes that saw them fall behind early.
Tries to Luke Hill after a cut-out pass from Tom O’Sullivan in his return game from injury, who then also crossed to reduce the deficit.
A late try to Goondiwindi saw them extend their lead on the back of a Pittsworth error, taking a 28-10 lead into the break.
The Danes started the second half well and with improved discipline with and without the ball, saw them cross first with Mason Bloom scoring in front of the tinny bar.
A late try to Luke Hill saw the Danes cut the deficit however it wasn’t enough, with the Boars running out winners 34-18.
Best for the Danes was Tom O’Sullivan in his return from injury, who picked up the 3 points and players player.
He was well supported throughout by Darb Manktelow and Mason Bloom who were excellent.

Reserve Grade
Reserve Grade won their second game in a row on a beautiful Mother’s Day afternoon at Club Pittsworth.
Our boys showed up to work harder than their opponents, and did just that for the 70 minutes.
Braydon Wilson opened the scoring early for the Danes, with Jake Johnston crossing over to give us the lead 12-6 at half-time.
The first 15 minutes of the second half invited Goondiwindi into the game, the Danes paying the price for poor ball control and not finishing off our sets.
With the score at 12-10 it was anyone’s game.
Fortunately Pittsworth was able to regather control via some strong ball running which resulted in Matthew Butler ducking over from hooker and soon after, Jake Johnston scored his second try for the day off a crafty kick in-goal from Brady Manktelow, with Josh Thornton then crashing over to seal the deal 28-10 with just 5 minutes remaining.

Open Women’s
The ladies played Gundy at home on Sunday.
Gundy got out of the blocks early and the girls had to dig deep with the continued sets of defence we had to do and some missed tackles we let them get the points on us early.
After a much needed half-time break we came out revved up, stuck to the game play and were rewarded with a try to Sophie Facer.
Great effort ladies in a tough game with special mention to a couple of girls who played well Meges, Abbey, Clare, Anna Meleah and Alannah.
Our Player’s Player was Chloe Butler.
Just remember girls small steps and we will be better for it. Stay strong always !!!
