Pfizer vaccine rollout in Pittsworth
The Pittsworth Medical Centre will soon be able to administer the Pfizer vaccine to eligible patients, with the first doses set to arrive in the coming weeks.
Pittsworth Medical Centre’s Practice Manager Carol Smidt said the Centre should be receiving its first delivery of the vaccine on July 16th and the first vaccine will be administered on July 19th, if all goes to plan.
Mrs Smidt said the practice should be getting 120 doses initially, followed by another 120 doses.
After that, the number of vaccinations available will be dependent on supply and demand, so as to avoid wastage.
Mrs Smidt reminded residents to be kind to healthcare workers as the Pfizer vaccine rollout in Pittsworth begins.
She said staff at the medical centre do not have a say on which vaccine to administer and have to follow government eligibility guidelines.
Patients are urged to discuss vaccine options with their GP to ensure they receive the vaccine that is best suited to their circumstances.
Pittsworth Medical Centre’s Practice Principal Dr David Reid said they are looking forward to the arrival of the vaccine and are happy to be able to offer it to the local community.
