Pedestrian access all muddied up
With the railway line cutting Clifton in two, the footpath between King Street and Clark Street right near the railway station sees considerable traffic.

On the King Street side, there is a small gap of only a few metres between the footpath and the road.
This gap contains a mixture of grass and dirt, which in dry conditions is easy enough to cross.
However, after only modest rainfall, a significant puddle forms over the dirt on the nature strip where it meets the road, forcing more agile pedestrians to jump over it.
Less mobile pedestrians do not have much choice but to get wet and muddy.
The issue is exacerbated for those with walkers and wheelchairs.
The next closest railway line crossings, both north and south, require a detour of several minutes.
Toowoomba Regional Council has been contacted for comment.
