Women

Ladies played very well against a determined Dalby side. Oakey only had 13 players, but despite this competed right to the end. The game finished 14-10 to Dalby.

The result leaves Oakey three wins outside of the top four.

Best players were Emma Creevey, Poppie Collins and Sabina McLoughlin.

Creevey is the leading tryscorer for the side this season, having scored four.

Dalby: 14 (Sarah Milton 2, Claire Harth tries Sarah Milton goal)

Oakey: 10 (Poppie Collins, Emmie Creevey tries Sabina McLoughlin goal)

Reserve Grade

The senior men’s sides have been decimated with injuries and several players unavailable for this weeks games against Wattles.

Despite this the Bears will never forfeit (unlike other clubs this year who have been short).

Reserve Grade took on the highly placed Wattles and went toe to toe with them going into the halftime break 14-6 down. The second half was a close tussle for the next 25 minutes with the scoreline getting away in the final minutes. It finished 30-10 to Wattles

Best players were Sam Jackson, Cooper Prosser and Ashley Hooper

Wattles: 30 (Aiden Suhan 2, Michael Duggan, Garth Lonergan, Jacob Meddleton, John Lazzaroni tries Thomas Morris 2, Timothy Duggan goal)

Oakey: 10 (Ashley Hooper, Helen Koivi tries Maluafiti Vaovasa Taiama goal)

A Grade

With a number of players unavailable, and a number of players playing injured, the A Grade took the field regardless.

Wattles are a very good side with the return of their ex QLD Cup halfback Matt Duggan running riot and setting up tries at will.

Oakey was decimated with further injuries, by halftime one player had been sent to hospital with a bad fracture, and the remaining interchange players were unable to continue.

Compounding frustrations, the Bears lost their inspirational halfback Joey Eising to a severe ankle injury just before halftime.

Down 50-0, with no reserves and their playmaker, the understrength Oakey showed resolve and battled on, with the second half only being 28-6. Best players were AJ MaChong, Sam Dowling and Jack Schilf.

Wattles: 78 (Brayden Paix 3, Matt Christensen 3, Tom Hatch 2, Ty Gardner, Mitch Bourke, Matt Duggan, Jackson Green, Joe Willett, Lachlan Watt tries Brayden Paix 11 goals)

Oakey: 6 (Wes Aumau try Trey Fernando goal)

- Brendan Dolan

Oakey will travel to Gatton this week at the Cahill Park Sporting Complex.

Kick off for the women is at 3:30pm, followed by the reserves at 5pm and A Grade at 6:30pm.

Come along and support the Bears!
