Oakey State High School holds leader investiture ceremony
On Monday, Oakey State High School (OSHS) inducted its 2023 student leaders in a ceremony held at the school assembly hall.

The Investiture Ceremony is a solemn occasion wherein all the students who were chosen by their peers are well prepared to don the mantle of leadership and responsibility, while carrying it out with utmost dedication.
The year 12 students also pledged to acknowledge their responsibilities as the school’s leaders and always showcase and role model the school REPPS at all times.
Special Guest, Cr Geoff McDonald was on hand with principal Danny Keenan to hand out certificates and badges.
Cr McDonald spoke with each student to acknowledge the special moment, whilst deputy principal Ms Castles introduced each recipient.
The masters of ceremonies were the Junior school leaders - Holly Henderson, Sonny McCormack, Hannah Mundey and Angerline Paterson, who did a fantastic job in opening the proceedings.
This was followed by a special acknowledgement of country by the school’s Indigenous leaders Jorja Charles and Gypsy Woodward and the National anthem sung by student M. K. Harvey.
There was a special acknowledgement to the new Science Ambassadors, House Captains and student council reps and Tip leaders.
The senior School Captains have been chosen by their pees for their perseverance and determination, self-discipline and responsibility.
They were chosen for consistently displaying school values of respect, excellence and participation, personality and safety.
It is the first time in Oakey High’s history that there is an all-female school captain team.
Congratulations to Ally Darr, Deborah Heyze, Sharmeka Young and Isla Prior- Mead.
A final congratulations to all the students who received their certificates and badges at the OSHS Investiture ceremony this week.
It’s clear that Oakey State High has some very responsible young people who will lead the school forward this year.
