Oakey Scouts ‘Nighthawk’ mission
Oakey Scouts challenged themselves at Operation Nighthawk held in Goombungee on the weekend, where they hiked a 12 kilometre course in the dark, cold and wet and completed activities at seven different bases along the way.

Oakey Scout leaders Jacque and Jess said this was the Scout group’s first ever participation in Nighthawk.
“I would like to say how proud I am of our Scouts,” they said.
“They were so very keen, and they had a go!
“It is a challenge, and is not meant to be a walk in the park.
“This is a 12 kilometre hike, in the dark, in the cold, and this year in the wet!
“They navigated through a course stopping at a series of seven bases to challenge their Scouting knowledge.
“The bases are manned by Leaders and Volunteers.
“We would like to say a big thank you to the parents from our Group.
“Without your assistance this activity could not go ahead.
“This was the first Nighthawk for everyone from our Group, except one.
“Hopefully everyone enjoyed the experience.
“The courage of our Scouts to dive into the unknown makes us so proud.
“Words are really not sufficient.
“Thank you everyone for participating.”
