Oakey Men’s Shed member wins trophy in Toowoomba woodcrafting competition
Oakey Men’s Shed member Stephen Clark won the Silver Skew Award at the Toowoomba and District Woodcrafters Annual Woodcraft competition, which was held in conjunction with the Carnival of Flowers Festival.

Stephen contributes his win to techniques he’s learned at the Oakey Men’s Shed.
“I made a wooden jewellery box for the competition,” he said.
“I won the Silver Skew Award which recognises excellent craftsmanship and serves as am encouragement award.”
Stephen encourages anyone with time on their hands to go and learn new skills or impart some of their knowledge to assist with community projects.
The Oakey Men’s Shed has most recently donated a bench members crafted to McDonald House residents’ War Memorial, as well as repairing several chairs.
New members are always welcome!
If you’re interested in joining the Oakey Men’s Shed or want to pop down and see them in action, stop by their workshop on Cory Street, Oakey every Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to midday.
