Oakey lad representing Australia at international rodeo meet
Junior rider Simon Collett is in New Zealand representing Australia’s High School Team as a steer rider.

Simon is currently travelling across the North Island of New Zealand as part of a team of around ten riders from across Australia.
He competed in the first event at Gisborne on Saturday and this weekend, he travels to Upper Mohaka. He is competing in the Under 15 category.
The selection process for the Australian team was based on performance and conduct.
At the National titles at Canungra in November he had competed to a high level and demonstrated exemplary conduct.
Outside of riding, Simon is a highly regarded student at Oakey State High School.
He played rugby league for the school last year, and has played for the Junior Bears in the past but will be giving up footy to focus on his riding.
Simon is active in the Oakey community and won the 2024 NAIDOC Junior Community person award.
Best of luck Simon, and safe travels across New Zealand!
