Last Saturday, Oakey Junior Rugby League teams headed to Pittsworth to take both Pittsworth and Newton, all teams enjoying a fantastic day of rugby league.

After a rough start to the season, our Under 14 boys walked away with a fantastic win over Pittsworth.

The tight tussle ended with the Bears taking victory, 26-22.

Under 7

We have started naming player of the week, the first recipient being Jett. All boys were awarded player of the match for their effort playing two games back-to-back without a break. The boys have been doing more in ttack and defence but need to be reminded not to wander too far when they have a sub. We would like to say a special thanks to Pittsworth for loaning us a player when the boys became too tired.

Coach: James Levesque

Under 10

Last week our Under 10s played two games, one against Pittsworth and the other against Newtown.

Oakey vs. Pittsworth

The Oakey Bears scored a hard fought win against home team Pittsworth.

The Bears looked slick from the start. Oakey produced the first try of the match by Jack Challener. Brock Cherry scoring next with a great back line move.

The forwards, led out front by Shakeenya Julian-Archer with some hard run ins, got through Pittsworth defence. Kynan backed up with some elusive runs and in defence Kaidyn, Nash, Jett and Arabella all made over 15 tackles each. Jaxon Beitzed was great in defence and attack winning him the man of the match.

Jack Chellener 3 tries, Brock Cherry 2, Jaxon Geary 1, Kaidyn Grump 1.

Oakey vs. Newtown

Oakey Bears played their end game against Newtown with some changes to the side. The Oakey Bears were fired up from the start with Jayce giving good balls from dummy half to Arabella to get the forwards running on to the ball. Blayne and Braxton Mead had their best game running to the ball. Aeidyn was great in attack with some elusive runs. Jack Miller scoring two
tries. The more games Jack plays the better he getting. Brock scored a great try running about 40 metres. Shakeenya scored from hard busting runs. Jayce scored a great dummy half run finding Newtown out in defence. Jack again was great, scoring one try and organising the boys around the paddock. Lachlan showing his speed running from dummy half to get Newtown on the back foot. Dwayne Morris was fantastic in defence with some great tackles bringing down Newtown forwards Dwayne was rewarded
with man of the match. Jett Staton was fantastic all
day with his knowledge
of the game showing Newtown how elusive in attack he is.
