Over the last three terms Oakey State High School has been running a lunch time netball competition.

Five teams nominated to compete - 4 student teams - Mad Dogs, Bench Warmers, Snow Goats and No Name and (yes, the students came up with their own team names) and one staff team.

The games were played on a Tuesday and Friday, each team playing 12 games.

The season ended with semi-finals and finals.

Mad Dogs won over Snow Goats in the first round of semis, eliminating Snow Goats from the competition.

In the second round of semis the Staff team won over Bench Warmers who then went on to play Mad Dogs in the third round.

Mad Dogs won and progressed to the final.

The grand finial was played on the 8th August between Mad Dogs and Staff, with a win to the Staff.

We commend the students for their hard-fought efforts.

The students involved in this competition always showed great sportsmanship and considered their fellow players, regardless of skill levels.

Early in the year our junior mixed team represented Oakey High at the Laura Geitz netball carnival.

This term we were represented at the Vicki Wilson netball carnival by  Senior Girls, Junior Girls, and Open Boys teams.

This was the first time Oakey High has been represented by an all-boys team.

Well, done to everyone involved.

A big thank you to our coach Sharon Federoff and business manager Anne Ehrich for their ongoing support and devotion.

We thank our students for their enthusiasm and dedication and our parents/caregivers who gave up their time to transport students to carnivals.
