The Future Experiences in Agriculture, Science and Technology (FEAST) course is a four-day residential program to inspire high school students about rewarding science careers in the agriculture, animal, plant and food industries.
The program is open to high school students in years 11 and 12 and is held each June/July at UQ’s Gatton campus.
During their four days, the girls will get the chance to ‘test-drive’ university and meet other students with similar interests.
Charlotte and Ally will get the chance to explore science disciplines through hands-on activities and workshops, and will learn about current challenges faced by ag scientists, including climate change, national biosecurity, feeding the world and protecting endangered wildlife.
The program also involves meeting UQ students and staff, attending industry-run sessions, and getting the chance to experience living in the UQ Halls of Residence on campus while taking part in social and sporting activities that are on offer to students at Gatton.
Due to high demand, students can only apply successfully once to the FEAST program.
