Oakey Float almost complete!
Dedicated volunteers have been spending countless hours preparing and decorating this year’s Oakey Float for the Carnival of Flowers Parade, which is happening next Saturday 17th September.
Oakey Float organiser Zoe Grainger said the float is expected to be complete by this Friday.
“We’re just adding the finishing touches this week after we had a big working bee last Saturday,” she said.
“All of the big tasks are out of the way now.
“We have made model buildings of Oakey businesses who have sponsored this year’s float, including the Oakey Pharmacy, Oakey Electrical, Ray White Rural Oakey, Oakey Family Dental, Oakey Newsgency, Oakey CWA and Great Country Pies Bakery.
“Little model replicas of their premises will be featured on the float, which will be great exposure for these local businesses and for Oakey in general as the event is televised nationally.”
Ms Grainger wants all of Oakey to get along to the Parade in Toowoomba on Saturday 17th September at 10am.
“It’s all about promoting how great Oakey is and celebrating the Carnival.
“Everyone is welcome to walk along with the float as well, you’ll just have to contact me first and sign a media permission form as the event will be broadcasted.”
