Oakey Art Group Awards
The Oakey Art Group was involved in supporting the Oakey Show by arranging the Fine Arts Section Awards.
The Oakey Art Group has supported the Show again this year by assisting in the organisation of the Fine Arts Section of the Show.
Forty-five paintings were entered with the results in each section as follows:
Members from the Art group and other artists from around the district exhibited in the show.

The Oakey Art Group is in its 51st year, and moved into its purpose built studio near the creek in 1994, where it remains to this day.
Members meet on Tuesdays and Saturdays, sometimes working on individual interests in art works.
On other weeks tutorials are organised to experience different ways and mediums.
For the first term this year, Art Lessons in the basic skills in drawing were taught.
These will be followed after Easter with lessons in the use of different mediums beginning with pastel, then acrylics and watercolour.
Lessons in the use of pastels begin on the 22nd April at 1pm to 3.30pm for four Saturdays.
The Oakey Art group hosts three to four workshops each year with professional artists invited as tutors.
On 13th and 14th May, Barry Back will be teaching the ‘Introduction to Acrylics’ followed on July 22nd and 23rd with Jan Lawnikanis.
This year the Oakey Art Exhibition will be held in the Studio situated in Stanley Street, Oakey from the 16th to 24th September.
