Numerous groups share in TRC grants
Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has approved 54 applications totalling $237,437.76, including a few local organisations, as part of its latest round of community grants.
There were 16 applications not approved.
TRC Environment and Community Committee Portfolio Chair Cr James O’Shea said the funds TRC had granted would allow many groups to upgrade facilities, purchase new equipment and benefit thousands of members and participants of these groups.
“The Community Grants Program is designed to give back to our community and not-for-profit groups to allow them to run events, build capacity within their own organisations and fund projects that otherwise might not get off the ground,” Cr O’Shea said.
Round One of the 2022/23 program was also the first time groups were asked to use TRC’s new SmartyGrants online platform.
“I’m delighted that all applicants were successfully able to use the newly implemented SmartyGrants software solution to submit their applications for funding,” Cr O’Shea said.
Darling Downs Sport Aircraft Association will receive $5,000 to engage a marketing professional to review its current marketing strategy with a particular focus on scope and extent of digital marketing strategies and enhancing digital transformation execution.
Clifton and District Historical Society Inc. will receive $2,500 to enable both lighting and electrical outlets so that maintenance work and the building of displays can be completed.
Nobby Primary School Parents and Citizens Association Inc. will receive $1,500 towards celebrating the school’s 125th anniversary, which will be held on 12 November.
QCWA Branch Clifton Inc. will receive $1,230 of the requested amount of $1,500 to install a sensor light on the front verandah, double spot light on the corner of the front verandah and back corner of the building and install a light in the toilet.
No lighting currently exists in the toilet block.
Additionally, square pavers are to be installed from the kitchen door to toilet block.
YellowBridge QLD Ltd. will receive $1,500 of the requested amount of $5,000 to host a ‘Regional Banter Roadshow’ at the Clifton Senior Citizens Centre, a social inclusion and wellbeing initiative by a not-for- profit organisation, YellowBridge QLD for older people aged 64 years and over (50 years and over for First Nations people).
Events will also be held in Crows Nest, Highfields, Oakey and Yarraman.
Darling Downs Sport Aircraft Association was unsuccessful in another application that requested $2,082.20 to purchase electrical testing equipment to reliably and accurately evaluate the electrical parameters for numerous aircraft components.
The assessment panel believed the application did not meet the program priority objective of
“broader community benefit” highly enough to warrant funding.
