No sign of eyesore’s removal
The sight of a burnt out vehicle on the roadside as motorists travel to Clifton from the north is unlikely to go away anytime soon.
The car has been left sitting on the roadside since it hit a tree and caught fire on 7 December last year.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital after the crash, having sustained significant injuries.
It is on the eastern side of Felton Clifton Road, just north of the junction with Bellview Road.
Felton Clifton Road is designated as a state road, falling under control of the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).
A spokesperson for TMR said the Department has investigated this particular matter and has determined that the subject vehicle was involved in a crash and is not a direct hazard to motorists in its current location.
“TMR advise that it is the responsibility of the vehicle’s registered owner to remove their vehicle from the roadside following a crash,” the spokesperson said.
“The Queensland Police Service may also authorise removal as part of or on completion of its investigations.
“TMR will monitor and continue to work with the registered owner to facilitate removal of the vehicle.”
