News from Days for Girls – Allora and District
Last month DfG hosted Queensland’s new Sewing Specialist Sue Reid who outlined recent changes to the colour and pattern charts as well answering questions about sewing standards to an interested group.
It was a very good interactive meeting with positive comments on the quality and quantity of goods produced by the Allora and District Days for Girls group.
At the September gathering, Allora Show Society President presented the group with a cheque for completing ‘canteen duties’ for various events at the Allora showgrounds.
Thanks to the Allora Show Society for the opportunities which contribute to our fundraising efforts.
For 2024, Allora and District Days for Girls will conduct the multi-draw raffle at the Allora Heritage Festival event over the Australia Day long weekend.
Any individuals or business who would like to contribute to our raffle, please get in touch. This is our major fundraising event for the year.
The next gathering will be as usual on the last Monday of the month - 30 October from 9am at the Function Room, MacKillop House, Warwick St, Allora, next to St Patricks Church, entry via McKillop Lane.
Coffee and tea provided and if possible bring along something for morning tea.
Please consider coming along as there is a variety of jobs to be done by sewers and non-sewers alike. Even if you can’t attend our monthly gatherings, there is certainly sewing which can be completed at home.
Please contact one of our executive team for further details if this is of interest to you.
