New team for Oakey RSL
Changes have occurred at the Oakey R.S.L. with a new executive taking charge.

The new President sent the following report out to RSL members this month.
“Firstly, I would like to say that it is an honour to take on the responsibility of President of the Oakey RSL Sub-branch after the AGM held on the 25th February,” he said in the Presiden'ts Report in the newsletter.
“If you had indicated to me two years ago that I would be the President of this club I would have laughed at you... how things change.
“I would like to thank the Members and Committee for having faith in me, I do have some big shoes to fill, and I hope that the committee and past members who have held this position provide me with ongoing guidance, I am sure they will.
“I also welcome two new members to the committee: Ms Christine Cherry and Mr Phillip Lawrence - it is good to see some new faces and I look forward to working with you throughout the year.
“Special thanks must go to Chris Markham as he has done an excellent job preparing me to take on this role, it is certainly what we should be doing for all board positions as it not only provides the necessary knowledge but empowers to do well.
“Chris has been instrumental in making things work for this club over the last three years and placed us in an exceptional position.
“I also thank the outgoing committee for the camaraderie and support over the last 12 months and look forward to working with you all in 2024.
"In the coming months, I will release details of what direction myself and the committee will focus on to ensure that Oakey RSL and the club maintain the standard and improve our standing in this community.
“I have a number of projects in mind, and will release those details as we move forward, and this will go out to all members for feedback.
“This year is significant as it is the 90th year since the Oakey RSL Sub-Branch came into existence and with that, we will look at celebrating appropriately with the committee and club already working on programs, so stay tuned for details.
“Along those lines, we will also be producing some memorabilia so stay tuned for that.”
