New subdivision planned on Margetts Street
For the first time in at least 10 years Pittsworth could be getting new residential allotments after two local couples submitted a development plan to Toowoomba Regional Council earlier this month.
Doug and Diane Cattell and Mark and Kate Droney, under Tuana Park Pty Ltd, purchased two lots of five acre blocks on Margetts Street from Ros Scotney in February this year with the intention of subdividing the land into 35 lots.
Located on the eastern side of Pittsworth just minutes from the town centre, the lots are set to range from 700 square metres up to 1800 square metres in size, with the biggest block to be sold with the house that currently stands on the land.
It has been proposed that the lots will be constructed over two stages, where the first stage entails the delivery of 18 lots on the southern side of the block and the second stage will see the construction of the remaining 17 lots on the northern side.
The Cattell's and Droney's lodged a development application with TRC approximately two weeks ago and are now awaiting Council’s approval for a works permit.
They are hoping to have approval by the end of this year or the beginning of 2022.
As soon as the development plans have been approved, work will begin on the blocks of land.
Mr Droney said they are excited by the prospect of creating more residential allotments - something that will help the growth of the town.
“We are passional locals wanting to progress Pittsworth,” Mr Droney said.
“We’re looking forward to a speedy approval process as we certainly think this is a great thing for the town.”
Before the work begins, there are still two structures with historical meaning on the property that the new owners are hoping will be re-homed, rather than demolished.
One of them is an 1898 hall that has previously been used as the Salvation Army building, a storage shed and then a place to house greyhounds.
Currently, there are hopes this building will be relocated to the Pittsworth Pioneer Historical Village, but expressions of interest are still open for anyone else who is interested in relocating it.
The other structure is an old Australian Mercantile Land and Finance Company (AML&F) shed for which the Droney's and Cattell's are also taking expressions of interest.
They are hoping to find someone who is interested in relocating or dismantling the structure.
