New residential subdivision proposed for Clifton
An application has been lodged with Toowoomba Regional Council for the development of a significant new residential subdivision on the northern side of Clifton.

The move is seen as a significant step for the town and will provide a welcome boost in residential land availability in the southern part of the Toowoomba Region.
The application has been lodged on behalf of Wiedman Developments Pty Ltd.
Directors of the locally-based company are John and Mark Wiedman.
It is proposed to create a subdivision of 40 lots in two stages.
The first stage will see the development of 21 building sites, with the further 19 sites to be created in stage two.
The area of the proposed development totals 10.13 hectares and which is currently cropping land
on the northern side of Clifton.
Access to the subdivision will be by way of Sandys Road, which is currently an unformed road running north from Gannan Street.
The developers will construct Sandys Road along with a new internal road which will run as a rectangular loop on the site.
It is proposed that the vacant residential allotments will range in size from 800m2 and will be generally between 900 to 1,200m2.
Some of the larger allotments are designed to respond to the site constraints, such as potential flooding on the north western corner.
It is anticipated that the development will not have a significant impact on current infrastructure such as water, sewerage electricity or telecommunications in the town of Clifton.
The application indicates that footpaths will be constructed on at least one side of all new roads within the development.
It is proposed that at least one street tree per lot will be planted.
The land is zoned for Low to Medium Residential Development.
