Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Yvette D’Ath announced the new health facilities this week to replace existing facilities in the two communities.

The Millmerran Multi-purpose Health Service will be tendered in early 2023, with completion scheduled for 2025.

The project is part of the Government Building Rural and Remote Health Program.

“The program focuses on the replacement of ageing hospitals around Queensland with new and improved healthcare facilities,” Ms D’Ath said.

“The existing health facilities in Doomadgee and Millmerran have served their communities well but they are ageing and in need of replacement.

“The new facilities will deliver more contemporary clinical spaces, improving the patient and staff experience.”

The Millmerran Multi-purpose Health Service facility will comprise an eight-bed inpatient unit, five-bed residential aged care space, and acute and non-acute spaces.
